Kingbury First in Spellbowl Competition


For the last six weeks, thirteen students from Kingsbury School have been studying 750 words for the Indiana Academic Spell Bowl Competition. Their hard work was rewarded when they took first place in the Red Class division on November 19 at Kingsbury Elementary School. The Spell Bowl team members are Kaitlyn Day, Sydney Hill, Avalyn Holtz, Trinity Hyer, Kai Jones, Zach Kabacinski, Rosie Korell, Megan Lambert, Olivia Lemon, Kadance Martin, Jay Pillai, Sara Thomas, and Annalise Zeedyk. The students were coached by Mrs. Kim Glenn.

The Area competition consists of eight rounds where seven words are given each round. Kaitlyn Day, Sydney Hill, Rosie Korell, and Zach Kabacinski received a perfect score, Trinity Hyer received a near perfect score. The team placed 7th in the stated in the Red Class division. There are 130 schools in that division. Congratulations to the Kingsbury Spell Bowl Team!
