“In 2013, I was called to be a missionary by God in Africa. I found out in 2015 that it was in Africa; I didn’t know at first that I was called to Africa. I’m trying to focus my life on getting to Africa. So, I am going to a bible college to get my degree in teaching and understudy in bible and missiology, which is the mission’s degree. My goal is to run an orphanage in Africa. I felt that God called me to do this; that was His calling on my life and my purpose. My parents and my grandparents, we all go to the same church. It’s been that way for as long as I can remember. In 2015, I went to Washington, D.C. for a week, and we were in the ‘ghetto.’ It was really eye-opening to me because I always wanted to be a world missionary, to go to foreign countries; those are the people that needed help, those are the people. I didn’t realize how much poverty and how much help we need in our own country. It was really eye-opening, like, ‘oh my gosh, the poverty level here is enormous,’ and you would never think. Like, ‘oh, we’re America, we’re super great.’ But not so much.”
