The LaPorte Little Theatre Club has put together a heart-warming production for the 2017 Winter season.
Actors and actresses, both young and old, have come together to perform two plays during one show: The Best Christmas Pageant Ever and A Charlie Brown Christmas. Performances took place on December 8th, 9th, and 10th and will be shown on the 15th, 16th, and 17th. Both plays are performed at every show with a brief intermission between. Curtain time will be 7:30p.m. on Friday the 15th and Saturday the 16th and at 2p.m. on Sunday the 17th.
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever tells a humorous story about the Herdman’s, a family of six trouble-making children. After the family finds out about Sunday School and the Christmas pageant by mistake, the children and parents at Church predict that their pageant will be the worst one ever; what happens, though, will surprise you.
A Charlie Brown Christmas is the classic story about Charlie Brown, a boy who can not find real happiness through Christmas spirit. After believing that he can do nothing right, his friends come together to help him find joy in the season in a beautiful and unexpected ending.
“We love the theatre. We love everyone involved in it. This has been a really unique experience for them [children] because it’s a children’s cast, so they really got to experience everything from the tech part of it to the scenery and things like that, so it’s really been a great experience for them,” Kyleen Fuller, mother of two performers, said.
A very professional group of actors, the children in both plays performed phenomenally and gave proof of their dedication and love for acting. Without all of their practice and hard-work, the piece would not be a success.
“We’ve been practicing six hours a week for six weeks and the final week before opening night for two and a half hours, three nights a week,” Fuller said.
