Summer 2019 London Trip

Slicers students have a chance to travel “across the pond.”

LPHS teacher, Mrs. Baugh, is planning out a school trip to London for the summer of 2019.

This educational tour of London is perfect for a student interested in theater. Featuring many sights of London, including but not limited to Shakespeare’s birthplace and many theater performances at Shakespeare’s Globe, this trip is definitely one for the books.

The first registration and informational meeting was held on Tuesday, February 20th at the La Porte Public Library, where selected students were given invitations to attend. There is also currently another informational meeting being planned for interested students.

“For the initial meeting, several of the English teachers chose students who they thought would enjoy the trip and are in good standing. If anyone does not get an invite but wants to go to London with us, they can simply drop by room 5.11, and I will be happy to get them more information,” Baugh said.

The trip is hosted by EF Tours, an educational tour company founded in 1965. The cost of the tour ends up being around $4,000 for students under the age of 20 but can be easily paid in monthly increments of $281, making the price easier to budget. Many different fundraisers can also help in achieving this cost.

“I think this trip is going to be an amazing experience for me. I’m really relieved that they do monthly payment so I can actually go and other people who can’t afford it up front can go and experience this once in a lifetime tour. I can’t wait to visit these historical landmarks with my friends and one of my favorite teachers from LPHS,” Christina Romo, LPHS junior, said.

Many people do not get a chance to travel outside of the US, especially before starting college and getting caught up in adulthood. This educational tour to London, England is a great way to get the chance to gain experiences and make memories that will last a lifetime.

If an LPHS student is interested in this 2019 summer trip to London, they should stop by room 5.11 and get more information.
