Say Yes to the Dress exceeds expectations

The Say Yes to the Dress at LPHS drive has become larger than expected. Starting as just a Prom dress drive for those unable to afford their own dress, the event is now offering girls the chance to receive more than just one magical night.

The Prom dress drive will take place on April 14th at the Silver Palace in LaPorte. The event will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Dresses, jewelry, and shoes will all be available. All donated dresses will be professionally dry cleaned by Concord Cleaners. Multiple items will be raffled off at the event as well, such as gift certificates to hair and nail salons. Refreshments will also be provided for those searching for their Prom look.

Additionally, First Choice Realty will be giving away a scholarship through the PROM-ising Futures organization to one male and one female, both nominated by teachers and/or staff members. Students can be nominated based on their trustworthiness, authenticity, enthusiasm, optimism, and many other traits. The awarded students will be able to use the scholarship funds toward college, trade school, or any other form of further education. In addition to receiving a scholarship, the winning boy and girl will have their entire Prom experience paid for them.

The Say Yes to the Dress at LPHS drive is giving students the opportunity to create a magical night at a low cost. For any girl unable to attend the event at the Silver Palace on April 14th, a small event will be held on April 12th at LPHS during lunches. Raffles and refreshments will not be provided at the smaller event, but anybody searching for a dress and accessories is encouraged to attend.

The deadline for dress, jewelry, and shoe donations has been extended and will now be Thursday, March 29th. All donations can be dropped off at LPHS.
