Greater LaPorte Chamber of Commerce Hiring Event

The Greater LaPorte Chamber of Commerce Hiring Event will take place at the LaPorte Civic Auditorium on May 16th from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

At this event, seniors from LaPorte County as well as other community members will be able converse with area businesses who are looking for employees to hire.

In the upcoming days, several of the specifics jobs/job descriptions will be posted on Hire-A-Slicer for review. There students can apply directly for jobs they are interested in.

Students going to this should have attended the Hiring Event held last week, have printed copies of their resume, and have professional attire on. They will need a signed permission slip as well. The permission slips can be picked up and turned to Mr. Presley in room J.24 by May 14th.

“My involvement with the Chamber Event is to promote the event through Hire-A-Slicer and to encourage students to attend because Hire-A-Slicer partners with the Chamber, so we are working in partnership to bring this opportunity to LaPorte. We have talked to the students about expectations about their appearance and for them to have resumes. Our goal is to show up, have our stuff together, take all the jobs that are available, and have a very successful day,” Presley, English teacher and Hire-A-Slicer coordinator, said.

Over 50 business will be in attendance, such as Purdue Federal Credit Union, LaPorte Hospital, Arconics, and the YMCA.

The LaPorte Chamber of Commerce Hiring Event is not a job fair; it is a hiring event. If a student already has a job and they plan on attending, this is an opportunity to see what other job are out in the community and practice communication skills.
