Spooktacular fundraiser: LPHS trick-or-treat
October 14, 2019
La Porte High School is still keeping the tradition alive with the 6th Annual Trick-or-Treat fundraiser.
LPHS Trick-or-Treat will be held on October 30th from 6-8 p.m. Admission is $5 per child, with proceeds going to the Special Olympics.
The LPHS Student Athletic Council will be planning and hosting the event in conjunction with the Champions Together Program.
According to Champion Together, this organization is a partnership between the Indiana High School Athletic Association and Special Olympics Indiana that promotes leadership among student-athletes while changing their lives as well as the lives of those with disabilities.
“This is a super important idea in our school including all of the students in all events is huge for special athletes as well as the partner athletes who compete alongside their peers,” junior Graham Siefker, Athletic Council member, said.
Kids and adults alike have been looking forward to this Slicer event that offers a safe and fun environment for La Porte kids.
“My girls like going every year to see the athletes and interacting with them,” Lindsey Pritchard, FACS teacher, said.
The trick-or-treat has the kids walk around the main gym, field house and small gym or hallway going from station to station. Trick-or-treaters will do an activity put on by a school group or athletic team and get candy. As fun as it is for kids, slicer athletes get just as much out of it
“I’m happy to do the trick or treat event because the funds go towards the Special Olympics cause,” Siefker said.
With all this success the LPHS Student Athletic Council has raised between $2500 to a high of $3400 each year. Stop by on October 30th to join in on the fun.
