Keeping the tradition
LaPorte girls’ basketball is gearing up for another stellar season.
The LPGBB has started the season with a 4-2 record with victories over South Bend Clay, New Prairie, Highland, John Glenn. The Slicers have losses to Penn and Munster, which both were close games.
The LPGBB is currently 6th in the Region according to NWITimes rankings, but the Slicers aren’t satisfied and plan on making this a dominant season.
“Playing as a team and having a good effort and attitude will help us continue to strive throughout the season,” Ryin Ott, junior, said.
Even though it’s the start of the season, the team has identified their strengths and are using them to their advantage.
“This team really likes to play an up-tempo game style,” Coach Walker said.
This goal-orientated team has high aspirations for the season. The team would like to compete for a Sectional and conference championship this year and go far into the State tournament.
“This year our team plans to not only to win the conference and possibly regionals but also to excel and succeed as a unit,” Kayla Jones, senior, said.
After last year’s success, the LPGBB team is anticipating on having a repeat or an even better result than last year. The team returned three starters return Nyla Asad, Kayla Jones, and Ryin Ott who will fill the void of last year’s seniors. The new additions to the starting lineup include Shelby Linn and Lauren Pollock.
