Chalk the walk 

The LPHS art department will be holding its Chalk the Walk festival on May 23rd from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.

Saturday, May 23, artists are expected to meet along “F” Street where the event will take place. There is no cost to join along. All participants need is an idea ready on arrival. Parking will be on the “I” Street lot. 

Every artist or team will be given a 4×4 foot chalk art square along with 12 pastel chalk sticks. Set up time is 9 a.m., and all artwork must be completely finished by 3 p.m. to be eligible for any awards. Winners will be announced after 2 pm. Artwork placing will be judged by creativity, quality, and originality. Artists must be prepared to show up with a sketch of their chalk idea. 

All artwork must be appropriate for public viewing. No political statements, advertisements, drug references, profanity or nudity. Any inappropriate drawings will result in immediate removal from the festival.

Rain or shine, the event will still take place, only in the emergency of severe weather, the event will then be cancelled. Applications may be picked up in the main offices in any LaPorte community school or by emailing Marybeth Lebo @[email protected]

The chalk the walk festival is a chance to bring the community together with art and creativity.
