Linn scores a home run

Senior Shelby Linn is ending her high school softball career by signing to continue playing in college for Aurora University. Linn took 13 years of knowledge about one sport and hit her opportunity out of the park when offered the chance to keep playing. Linn will be attending Aurora University to study Criminal Justice with hopes to double major in Environmental Sustainability to become a DNR officer.

Linn first grabbed the bat and stepped up to the plate when she was only five years old. When Linn first joined softball, she was welcomed with new friends and an opportunity to do what she loves. With support from her family, it wasn’t hard to get the hang of the game. Her three brothers showed her the ins and outs of the game and a friendly push from her parents made her the outfielder she is today.

Linn has dedicated thousands of hours to softball, from traveling to places like Panama City, Florida, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Sussex City, Delaware. She has also spent hours conditioning and practicing every chance to improve herself.

Not ready to step off the plate just yet, Linn hopes to keep playing and dedicating every minute she has to softball. Not only does she play softball, but also soccer and basketball for LPHS. Linn has been a three sport athlete throughout her high school years.

Besides sports and school, Linn still enjoys staying active whenever possible, she also loves anything to do with being outdoors, camping, playing with her dog Willow, going to the gym, watching Netflix and hanging out with her friends.

“I’m an athlete, I have a strong emotional commitment to play as hard as I can for as long as I can,” Linn stated.

Linn is a great example of a slicer by working hard everyday and continuing to play out her dreams on the field.
