Hoop Dreams: Ethan Osowski
Ethan Osowski, La Porte basketball junior, is making strides to have a strong senior year after an upsetting loss to rival Michigan City.
Osowski has been in the varsity lineup for the La Porte boys’ basketball team since his freshman year. Osowski has made many accomplishments in his high school career including 2018-2019 Junior Varsity MVP and varsity starter for the past years.
Osowski started his basketball career at an early age under head coach Doug Konieczny. Osowski’s love for the sport has always been there, but his love for the sport intensified even more when he saw improvements.
“Basketball offered me an escape like no other and has taught me many life lessons such as not everything is going to come easy and you have to work really hard if you want something not very many people have,” Osowski said.
Osowski decided to challenge himself this offseason by not only getting physically better but also strengthening his mentality. Osowski tended many workouts and became heavily involved in off-season basketball with AAU, while also learning and working on becoming a better leader in the basketball program.
Not only is Osowski a major contributor to the LaPorte Basketball program, but he is also a major contributor in the classroom, maintaining a strong GPA. It’s safe to say that he is an extraordinary role model and leader at LPHS.
“He’s a hard worker and never gives up especially when the team is done. I expect great things from him and he expects the same from me. He is a well-rounded athlete with the potential to play in college,” Grant Ott-Large, teammate, said.
Osowski’s plans after high school are to attend University on a scholarship to continue his basketball career at the collegiate level. He is undecided on which university he will be attending and what type of subject he will be majoring in.
LPHS is fortunate to have Slicers that are as amazing and dedicated as Osowski.
