LaPorte favorite Arts in the Park is returning for their 21st season. Arts in the Park brings the community closer together through music and unforgettable performances by local entertainers.

The concert season begins on June 3rd and continues every Thursday until August 26th. Most of the concerts begin at 7 p.m. with the exception being July 22nd, which starts at 6 p.m. Some of the featured performers include Rhymer/Educator, People & Songs, and Cripple Creek.

Also, the LaPorte City Band concert season kicks off on June 9th and continues every Wednesday at 7 p.m. until August 11th.

A new feature that Arts in the Park is offering is Open Mic Night during select concerts. In order to participate, a person must email their submission by the first of the month of that corresponding month. To submit an application, please email: [email protected]

“We would like to promote the best of what our community has to offer. For those who are interested, we ask that they send us a brief video or audio recording of what they would like to perform. Please include contact information. The submission will be reviewed by our Open Mic Night Committee, and we will contact those who have met our criteria,” assistant director of Arts in the Park Julia Kanestrom said.

The safety of their attendees is Arts in the Park’s number one priority; therefore, they will implement rigorous safety procedures to decrease the spread of COVID-19.

“Adjusting to COVID-19 protocol was integral but not an easy transition to make. Face coverings will be announced as ‘strongly recommended’ during the first weeks of performances and will become ‘mandatory’ if we do not receive compliance. Hand sanitizer or disinfectant wipes will be available at concession areas,” Kanestrom said.

Although the layout of Arts in the Park has changed, the integrity and heart of the program will continue to inspire LaPorte. If anyone wants to attend a concert, they are held at Fox Park and are completely free. For more information, visit their website: https://www.artsintheparklaporte.com/.
