Lilly Endowment chooses 6 Slicers as finalists

La Porte High School is honored to announce six gifted Slicer seniors who have been named finalists for the prestigious Lilly Endowment Scholarship program: Lilly Burke, Isaac Chezem, Jacob Ellis, Emma Fleshman, Anna Kubik, and Macy Mrozinski.

According to Lilly Endowment Inc, The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program, active in the state of Indiana, provides free tuition, room and board, coverage of all required fees, up to $900 for school books, and required equipment for students attending an Indiana college.

According to Lilly Endowment Inc, The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program is partnered with 90 community foundations in the state of Indiana striving to raise the level of education and community foundation potential. They aspire to improve the quality of the lives of state residents. In total, two scholarships will be provided to chosen La Porte County students.

Lilly Burke

Why did you apply?: “It is a great opportunity that would be beneficial as I further my education.”

 

Isaac Chezem

College You’d Attend: Purdue University

Clubs Involved In: NHS, NTHS, FCA, and Envirothon

Why did you apply?: “It’s not a novel concept that college is costly. I’m grateful that there even is an opportunity like this to apply for. The fact that there are companies and organizations like Eli Lilly that are willing to invest in young, ambitious minds is certainly comforting.”

 

Jacob Ellis

Why did you apply?: “Receiving the award of a full-ride provides countless opportunities.”

 

Emma Fleshman

Why did you apply?: “I applied because this scholarship is an amazing opportunity to help a dedicated student involved in their community.”

 

Anna Kubik

Why did you apply?: “I’ve always held academics to a very high standard, and I’ve always been taught the value of hard work.”


Macy Mrozinski

Why did you apply?: “College is hard to pay for, so I wanted to help my family and myself by earning the prestigious Lilly Endowment Scholarship.”
