LPHS makes improvements over the summer
Over the summer, La Porte High School made updates to the cafeteria, the main gym, parking lots, and sidewalks.
The cafeteria, with the new updates has more school spirit and gives it more of an identity. There are all new tables and chairs ranging from high top tables to Slicer-themed long tables, and the walls feature Slicer-themed decals and healthy eating messaging, which was necessary to receive the funds to purchase the enhancements.
“We wanted to add some life to the cafeteria to brighten them up for the students,” Cindy Vondra, director of food services, said.
The main gym was also updated over the summer, refinishing the floor for the new school year and sport’s seasons.
“It is really nice getting to play on the new floor. It brings a whole new vibe and energy to the team,” Ellie Rosenbaum, senior volleyball player, said.
The staff, parent drop-off, and student parking lots along with the sidewalks were repaved. New arrows were also added to the student parking lot in hopes of helping traffic flow.
“We are going to try and make this place the best that we can in that Slicer theme that we have,” Mr. Upp, principal at La Porte High School, said.
